Best Buy Screws Again

Best Buy is a bunch of lying, unethical, deceptive, bastards. The following can be seen as either a rant, or a list of reasons that I will not be shopping at Best Buy again. First, at the XBox 360 launch, they sucker people into buying crap they didn't need and jack up the price of even the core units by getting them to buy bundles. Recently, after calling around to several Best Buy's, I ask each of them when they'll open, so that I can be there nice and early in the morning. Each time on the recording and by representative, I get the time of 9am. One girl I spoke to even told me "we'll get them tomorrow, and they'll go on sale at 9am." I get to the store at 7:45 and guess what? They've been open for an hour and 45 minutes.

Apparently, they opened early for the people who were standing out for xbox 360s, meanwhile, myself, and many others arrived early hoping to squeeze into the expected line of waiters, only to find they've already sold out of 360s. I tried several others in the Fort Worth/Arlington/Burlerson areas, all before 9 with the exception of the Burleson store, all opened at 6 (except Burleson...they opened at 8).

One little prick actually started snickering as I walked off, after being told they were out. I wanted to explode. I wanted to turn right back around, and erase that stupid grin from his face with bare knuckles. I wanted open his face and pull out his tongue as a metaphor for the feeling that washed over me. Then I realized, I'd probably go to prison afterwards, and that would certainly spoil my christmas.

Now, I don't know if this is standard practice, but personally, I think it's a little unethical, to give people a time as though it were gospel, and then when they show up, you've already been open long enough to sell out of what people are going to arrive for. Now while I can understand why they would do this, to avoid getting nailed by bunch of psycho shoppers, its still pretty shitty to pull a fucking a bait and switch. There's more than one way to effect crowd control. Hire cops and guards to come down, open multiple lines, allocate counters from which the items will be sold and handed out.

Telling someone you have something in and will be selling it at certain time, then turning around and changing the time is complete and utter bullshit. Between this and the whole ripping people off with bundles? I think Best Buy needs to reevaulute its business practices.
